7/25/2011

Alayna had a WONDERFUL first day.  She acted like she had always been coming.  She was very comfortable with us and mostly comfortable with the kiddos within about 30 minutes.  At breakfast Alayna ate about half of both her banana and her cheerios.  At lunch she ate about half of her grilled cheese, a couple sips of tomato soup and most of her apple slices.

She told me potty once and went one other time.  She did have an accident about 8:30 this morning, but she was great about me cleaning it up and changing her clothes.  She was just very sweet and congenial about everything today.  It was great because both Morgan and Jadey wanted to try to go potty after watching her try at one of the handwashing times.  : )  I love that positive peer pressure!

Alayna had a book in her hand and brought it over to me and asked "Read story" after breakfast.  When I asked her if she wanted me to read them a story she said, "No" and wandered off.  When I actually did start reading, she came back and joined us for the other three stories.

She had fun drawing with the magna doodles, building with the big interlocking blocks, carrying around "the baby" (doll), playing with the food toys and lots more.  She was also very excited to go outside when we went and had to try everything out.  She really "fits in" great!

This morning Baby Peyton was tired and fussed for a little when we put her down for a nap.  Alayna was quite concerned about that and came over and patted me on the leg, saying "Baby crying!"  She was very relieved when she stopped after a minute or two.  : )

Morgan was building with the big blocks today too and they topped over with quite a crash.  Alayna really thought that was funny and cracked up.  Morgan loved it that she had made her laugh and did it over and over.  Soon three of the other kiddos were doing the same thing to make her laugh.  They all really seem to like her (almost as much as we do!).  We are so glad she (and you guys) is here.
